Join us for the next production in our OT Lunchtime Plays series, The Disappearance of Slobbo by Josh Azouz.

To accompany our production of Ben and Imo, which captures Benjamin Britten and Imogen Holst racing against time to compose an opera worthy of a monarch, we’re thrilled to present a compelling new play that explores characters grappling with a very different kind of deadline.

This reading is supported by the Shoresh Trust.

It’s dawn. Siblings Andre and Zev Khadoori wait on the construction site for Slobbo, the site manager. He’s the only one who can sign off on the demolition, clearing the way for the Khadoori’s massive new development—and a huge payday. But Slobbo is late, and the assistant site manager spins bizarre tales to explain why. Meanwhile, a pair of glasses lies on the ground—covered in ketchup… or blood?

A reunion of the writer-director team that brought us The Mikvah Project (2020), this is the first public reading of the new play from Josh Azouz (Once Upon A Time in Nazi Occupied Tunisia and Buggy Baby).

CONTENT ADVICE: This production contains references to violence, death, antisemitism as well as strong, racist and discriminatory language. This production contains flashing lights.

Tickets are £15 and include a glass of wine or soft drink.

PLEASE NOTE: This event is a staged reading, without décor.

About OT Lunchtime Plays

Lunchtime Plays at the OT hark back to our origins over fifty years ago when a group of actors adopted a room above the Orange Tree pub, performing with scripts in hand and nothing but the daylight through the windows to light performances. Chairs were placed around the edge of the room creating an in-the-round space that remains at the heart of our work all these years later.
