by CARMEN NASR directed by ED HILL

“It’s a new era. And I can see a new dawn breaking through…Imagine the places our daughters will go”

4 friends. A podcast. And an epidemic afflicting women across time and space. The Maladies follows Cleo, Leonie, Tamara, and Jessica as their feminist podcast Empowercast investigates a mysterious epidemic that causes women to fall silent. Their journey to the truth causes them to butt heads with their new corporate sponsors, while secrets of past epidemics are revealed. The boundaries of time and space are shattered in this mind boggling journey through 500 years of fictional history.

Former member of the Orange Tree Writers Collective, Carmen Nasr, has a fresh, clever voice that beautifully melts humour and drama in this story about young women finding their voice in a world that wishes to silence them at every turn.

The OT Young Company is an ensemble formed annually for people aged 18 to 25 seeking to develop as theatre-makers and performers. It nurtures individual voices and skills within the Company whilst participants work collaboratively with like-minded people.

Successful auditionees have met once a week since Autumn 2023 and are now rehearsing their showcase production.
