Directed by JORDANA GOLBOURN
Performed by the OT 15-18 Young Company and designed by OT 15-18 Young Creatives
When Ruby acquires a lock of Britney Spears’ hair as a relic to help her stay calm during her GCSE mocks, her friends dismiss it, but one by one they feel its power and want a piece of it, until it is destroyed. This funny play about how we cope in stressful situations, explores the power of belief and friendship.
The Orange Tree 15-18 Young Company is an opportunity for young people interested in performing and theatre-making to have fun, be creatively challenged and collaborate with like-minded people. From November 2025 – May 2026, the 15-18 Young Company formed once again to take part in the National Theatre’s Connections festival. Over the course of 7 months, the company have rehearsed a brand new play and will perform it twice: first on the Orange Tree stage, then in a celebration with other Youth Theatres at the Lyric Hammersmith.
The Orange Tree 15-18 Young Creatives is a group of 9 young people interested in technical theatre who have designed our 15-18 Young Company show. They have been mentored by professional designers and other technical professionals but have led the entire technical process of this production (including designing the poster!). It has been a rare and exciting opportunity for a group of young people to collaborate with a professional director to design and stage a production on both the Orange Tree and Lyric Hammersmith stages.
