Development Board Call Out – Senior Volunteers

The Orange Tree Theatre is delighted to announce that we are establishing a Development Board and looking for members. As part of our ongoing fundraising strategy, we are looking for Development Board members who are passionate about live theatre and philanthropy and will support our wonderful producing theatre in generating and developing funds and corporate business opportunities.  The Development Board will meet as a group up to four times per year with a collective fundraising target of £150k per year as well as supporting with fundraising for an exciting and transformative £3m capital project following a successful planning application. The Development Board is not legally bound to the OT Board of Trustees and there are no legal obligations, though it is chaired by OT Trustee, Harriet Varley.

Development Board Members

Development Board members will personally donate at Patron level or above (or equivalent)  https://orangetreetheatre.co.uk/membership/become-a-patron.  This is senior volunteer role and members will enjoy close access to the workings of the OT, including the executive and artistic team, whilst making a significant and meaningful contribution to the ongoing success of the Theatre.  Serving on the Development Board for a term of two years, members will act as ambassadors for our intimate theatre in-the-round, attending performances, introducing new audience members and donors, and networking on behalf of the OT. They will share their network of personal and/or business contacts who might also be interested in supporting the OT through donations or otherwise.  Members will also give their time and enthusiasm to support a vibrant unsubsidised theatre, without having to attend many committee meetings or take on trustees’ legal obligations. They will be happy to work independently, whilst in contact with the OT’s joint CEOs and Development Director.

Support from the Orange Tree Theatre

The OT will support the Development Board with up-to-date information about the OT and our fundraising targets and progress, audience demographics, opportunities for sponsorship and support and other data which could assist with your requests. The OT will offer cultivation opportunities, including arranging access to the Artistic Director and others involved in the OT and/or particular productions where suitable. The OT will assist with individual asks where these might be more appropriate coming from the Development Director or a member of the Board of Trustees. The OT will also ensure approaches are monitored for compliance and avoidance of duplication.
