Work Experience

Years 10-13 Work Experience placement

We are offering a one-week work experience placement to give a taste of how theatre works for a group of participants in the school Years 10-13.

Dates

Monday 29th June – Friday 3rd July 2026

10am – 4pm each day at the Orange Tree Theatre, Richmond.

Who is it for?

We are looking for students in Years 10 – 13 who are interested in working in the creative industries. Maybe you’re someone who’s done lots of acting or technical theatre or maybe you really love art, reading or film. Most importantly, you’re open to discovering more about how different parts of a theatre function and are keen to work with likeminded young people.

What does the placement involve?

In this placement, you will:

  • Be mentored as a group of twenty by two theatre professionals
  • Learn about the wide range of jobs within theatre
  • Meet like-minded young people and industry professionals
  • Take part in workshops and tasks set by Orange Tree departments such as Marketing, Finance, Production & Technical, Producing & Programming, Community & Development
  • Work as a group to present your learnings to OT staff at the end of the week

Please note, due to its scale, this Work Experience placement does not include working in the office.

Previous participants said:

‘I found confidence around people I’ve never met before. I now feel comfortable talking to adults about work-related stuff that I think will help me later in life.’

‘I loved every single part. I really loved meeting everyone [in such a] supportive environment. It was such a good way to bond and literally so fun.’

‘Absolutely loved getting to hear all the departments and the work they do. Also making so many new friends and getting ideas for the future!’
