What is the OT Young Company?

The OT Young Company is an ensemble formed annually for people aged 18 to 25 seeking to develop as theatre-makers and performers. It nurtures individual voices and skills within the Company whilst participants work collaboratively with like-minded people.

Members meet once a week and over the year will:

  • Experience rehearsal processes for scripted and devised work
  • Receive masterclasses from leading industry freelancers
  • Learn about audition technique, further training opportunities and how professional theatre operates
  • Have the opportunity to observe rehearsals for OT productions

The Young Company 23/24 will present a show at the Orange Tree Theatre in May 2024. They will also perform as part of OT Community’s intergenerational festival in summer 2024.

The OT Young Company is open to anyone aged 18 to 25, including performers with and without any training, and it is also suitable for those mainly interested in writing and devising.

Who will I work with?

The OT Young Company is led by director Ed Hill. There will be masterclasses with a variety of leading industry freelancers including OT Associate Directors Guy Jones and Natasha Rickman.

The devising and writing processes will be supported by members of the OT Writers’ Collective, whose alumni include leading playwrights and screenwriters Isley Lynn, Chris Bush, Sonali Bhattacharyya, Ross Willis, Joe White, Somalia Seaton, and Eve Leigh.

All OT Young Company members will be offered a mock audition experience with OT Artistic Director Tom Littler.
